It's Beginning to Look...

... a lot like Christmas at ISE, thanks to Mrs. Counts and Mrs. Lancaster of the Grounds and Facilities committee. The lighted Christmas tree and garland at the entrance to the school make things nice and festive!

We would also like to thank Peggy Hatcher for creating these beautiful wreaths to adorn our front door!

Fourth Grade Caring

ISE 4th grade students made soft fleecy pillows for residents at Greystone Health Care Center.

Residents touched, hugged, and squeezed the pillows once they were told "children ages 9 and 10 made this just for you."

Along with the pillow, the students also sent a Christmas greeting.

Mrs. Robinette sang "The First Noel."

ISE once again has shared the true meaning of Christmas.

Refunding 101

It’s time again for the Refunding pick up! Please bring in your Box Tops, Campbell’s Labels, and Tyson A+ labels. Please have your labels turned in to your child’s homeroom teacher by Tuesday, November 10th.

Remember, the classroom with the most contributions wins a prize. Congratulations to Mrs. Pendleton’s kindergarten class for having the most contributions for the first six weeks!

Please trim the labels neatly before sending them into your child’s homeroom class. If you are unsure of what is important on the labels, please refer to the following pictures.

Box Tops should be trimmed to the dotted lines. Please double check that the labels have not expired.

Campbell’s labels should be trimmed to include the UPC code and the point value. Please note that if you cut out only the UPC code, we have no way of knowing if the label was a 1-point or a 5-point label. Therefore, we have to redeem them as 1-point labels. We could be losing points this way. If your label does not have a point value listed, as in the bottom label in the picture, it is worth one point.

We need the entire label off the Tyson package.

This is a simple way for our school to earn lots of free money. Please help us earn as much as we possibly can! These little labels add up quickly!!

FALL CARNIVAL. . . A BIG HIT

The ISE Fall Carnival was so much fun this year! The PTA was able to raise over $2,000 and to see the excitement on the kids' faces was worth it all.

Thank you to all who gave their time and donations to help out with this wonderful family event. A special thank you goes out to the Carnival Committee - Amy Falin and Michelle Easterling (chairs) and their families, Jane Miller, Rene Cox, and Brandy Kisner. Thanks also to all the volunteers who helped sell tickets, run the concessions, and helped set up and clean up.

Thanks to the teachers who participated in the pie toss and to Mr. Winchell and Ms. Nave for helping throughout the night.

Thanks also to everyone who came out to participate in the fun evening!

The excitement is building as these ISE students await their turn to fish for hmmmm candy and coloring books????

The carnival could not have been so successful without the help from Sullivan Central Key Club. The High School students ran the games and painted faces. What a wonderful job they did!

Did anyone say cornhole toss!

How about some mini golf!

Throughout the evening many entered their names to win some great prizes donated by local businesses and parents. Another special thank you goes out to those who donated prizes which included jewelry, food gift certificates, entertainment, and the list goes on and on!

Thanks for a wonderful evening, Indian Springs!

Time to Link Up at Food City!!

Food City is kicking off a new program called School Bucks. Through this program, Food City will be donating $600,000 to area schools, and you can help Indian Springs earn a portion of the money! School Bucks replaces the former Apples for the Students program.

For every $10 of Food City exclusive brand purchases you make in a single shopping trip, Indian Springs Elementary will receive 1 point towards our School Bucks reward. The amount of money awarded to each school will be based on the percentage of total purchases of participating items by custumers. It’s like a pie – the size of our school’s slice depends on how much our supporters shop. All in all, Food City will be donating $600,000. The more you shop at Food City, the bigger our portion of the $600,000 will be!! Invite your friends, neighbors, and extended family to link their cards to Indian Springs as well! Let's get our whole network hooked up.

In order to qualify, your $10 purchases must be in Food City exclusive brands. Participating brands include:

Food City

Food Club

Full Circle

Paws

ValuTime

Top Care

Academix

Domestix

Electrix

EasyClix

World Classics

Dining-In

The program starts on Sunday, September 27, 2009, and ends on Saturday, May 1, 2010. Be sure to link your Food City ValuCards to Indian Springs Elementary so that we can start earning free cash!

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day at Indian Springs was a huge success this year! Many thanks to all of the volunteers who worked very hard to make it happen. Also, thank you to all of those special adults who joined our students for lunch.

Lots of visitors lined the walkway as they waited for each grade level's lunch time.

The cafeteria was full of children enjoying lunch with their visitors!

The wonderful ISE Cafeteria Staff prepared a terrific lunch!

Good Hope Gardens & Landscape, located just down the road at 5237 Highway 126, was kind enough to donate beautiful fall mums as doorprizes for our Grandparents Day visitors.

The Results are In. . .

As you enter the school in the next few weeks take a look at the bulletin board in the front hall. The PTA membership drive results are posted and linked. If you still have not joined the 220 member strong ISE PTA there is still time to do so ... you might just be that missing link!

Congrats goes out to the the following classes and teachers who had the largest PTA membership numbers per grade. All of the winning classes received water bottles donated by All Season Storage. We even had a tie in the kindergarten and 3rd grade classes! Way to go students, teachers, parents, grandparents, and friends!
